Places being snapped up at Eye-supported landlord law conference

A national landlord law conference is being supported by Eye.

Organised by Tessa Shepperson, it takes place in Cambridge on April 14.

It is a must-attend for agents wanting to get up to speed with a number of issues – right to rent checks, new deposit regulations, and new retaliatory evictions rules, to name but a few. All carry penalties, both civil and criminal, for landlords and their agents who fail to comply. Not surprisingly, places at the conference are going extremely fast.

The line-up of excellent speakers includes Eye legal expert David Smith on Section 21 and HMO prosecutions, and Mike Morgan of lead sponsors the Tenancy Deposit Scheme.

There is also barrister Robert Brown on utilities, solicitor Simon Parrott on protected tenancies and Landlord Action principal Paul Shamplina on eviction issues.

Tessa Shepperson from Landlord Law will be opening the conference to bring delegates up to date on any other important legal developments not covered by the other speakers.

Exhibitors so far include the TDS, Property Redress Scheme, Fixflo and conference regulars ARLA, Envirovent and NW Brown Insurance.

Shepperson said: “Some conferences are free events where the speakers have mostly paid for their slots to allow them to promote their products.

“The Landlord Law Conference is different. It is a paid-for event (the standard delegates fee is £180) but the speakers are all either qualified solicitors, barristers or experts in their field.

“The focus of the conference is on education rather than promotion of products.

“Attendance is also accepted as CPD by most organisations including ARLA and London Landlord Accreditation.

“This is why the conference is so popular and why, if you want to attend, you should book very soon.”

The conference is at Homerton College in Cambridge (with free parking). Accommodation is available at the college for anyone attending from a distance who needs to stay overnight.
