The Guild of Property Professionals is to host a webinar examining the government’s proposed reforms to the home buying and selling process amid growing speculation over what the changes could mean for estate agents.
The online event, taking place on 23 July, will be led by the Guild’s compliance officer, Paul Offley, and will explore the proposals currently under discussion, including reports that Home Information Packs (HIPs) could return.
While no reforms have been confirmed, the proposals have prompted debate across the property sector, with many agents questioning how any changes could affect their businesses.
According to Offley, the session will focus on the proposals as they stand, separating confirmed information from speculation and outlining their potential impact on estate agencies.
He said: “Whilst nothing has been confirmed, it’s understandable that many agents are already asking what these proposals could mean for their businesses.
“Having supported Guild Members through many legislative and regulatory changes over the years, it’s important to separate speculation from what’s actually being proposed. Understanding the detail early helps businesses prepare without reacting unnecessarily.
“That’s why I’ll be hosting a webinar on Thursday, where I’ll look at the proposals as they stand today, discuss their potential impact on agents, and answer questions live.”
The webinar is open to Guild members and non-members, who can register via Zoom. Attendees will receive an overview of the proposals and have the opportunity to put questions to the Guild’s compliance team.
