‘Next generation’ letting agency builds team with hires from Purplebricks

‘Next generation’ letting agency Accommodation – which aims to cover the UK Purplebricks-style with Local Lettings Consultants – has been building its central office team.

Based in Manchester, new hires include former Purplebricks academy director Michael Booth.

He will be helping to recruit and train the Local Lettings Consultants alongside ex-Belvoir business development manager Clive Tomlinson.

Booth said: “Accommodation’s mission to become the most loved lettings agency in the UK by delivering an outstanding service to landlords and tenants really appealed to me.

“The industry has long needed change and I firmly believe that we will be the ones to do it.

“Well-known lettings agencies have focused too much on being online, neglecting to remember that what landlords and Generation Rent really want is efficiency, customer service and a high level of professionalism.

“Letting out your home or finding a new place to live is a huge decision, so we want to be there to support tenants and landlords alike.

“Our bespoke service and round-the-clock centralised teams will enable our Local Lettings Consultants to do just that.

“The unique service created by Accommodation breathes life back into the rental market, and I firmly believe that we will ease the traditional burdens that other estate and lettings agencies have placed on their franchisees, landlords and subsequently, tenants.”

Another new hire is Julie Findlater, formerly a Purplebricks territory owner in Scotland.

Accommodation co-founder Aaron Short said: “I’m really pleased with the team that we’re building.

“We’ve steadily built a back-end team at Manchester based on the best talent, and now that we’ve launched it’s crucial that we continue to make the very best hires.”

Accommodation’s business model is described as emulating the Airbnb experience for tenants who can find and book properties within one platform, and use it to track rental payments and report maintenance issues.

Accommodation has set out its stall as planning to become the UK’s largest letting agency.

It charges from 4% to 6% for let only, and from 10% to 14.4% for a fully let and managed service.

Lettings  get very little mention in the Bricks Story . .The former Bricks Academy Director explains why

“Well-known lettings agencies have focused too much on being online, neglecting to remember that what landlords and Generation Rent really want is efficiency, customer service and a high level of professionalism.”

With just 372 properties to let in the UK as of this morning Bricks have been going backwards

I was shocked that you only get to keep 5% of any ongoing management revenue per property. But you get to keep all other revenue generated.

You would be much better off going it alone. I can’t see how anyone can make a living out of this.

Anyone else finding it ironic that an ex PB employee is telling us that our industry long needed a change?
