In what appears to be a tragic outcome, Norfolk Police has issued the following statement:

Searches for a missing Gorleston woman have been called off after enquiries suggested the 23-year-old had entered the water.

Chelsie Dack went missing in the early hours on Monday morning (20 April 2020), leaving her home on the High Street.

CCTV shows Chelsie walking towards the pier, where her mobile phone was found later that morning by a member of the public.

She has not been seen or heard from since and officers believe the most likely scenario is that Chelsie has entered the water at Gorleston.

Detectives are continuing with CCTV enquiries however searches have been stood down.

Great Yarmouth Policing Commander, Superintendent Mike Britton, said:

“We’ve carried out extensive local searches involving dedicated search teams, dog units, National Police Air Service, the coastguard, RNLI and Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue and the coastguard helicopter.

“Unfortunately, there has been no sign of Chelsie and she hasn’t used her bank accounts or social media accounts since the early hours of Monday morning.

This, combined with CCTV enquiries, leads us to believe the most likely scenario is that she has entered the water.

“We’ve spoken to Chelsie’s family and updated them on the investigation so far.

“This is clearly a distressing time for them and we will continue to keep them updated of the ongoing work in this case.

“I would like to take the opportunity to thank the local community for their support in raising awareness of Chelsie’s disappearance and supporting her family but ask that they continue to observe the government restrictions on movement.”

Chelsie’s family has asked for privacy at this difficult time. We are sure that EYE readers would wish to join us in expressing our profound sadness at this latest news.
