Family-run estate agency appoints son as director following independence move

A Somerset estate agency has strengthened its management team by appointing the founder’s son as a director, four months after breaking away from a national franchise.
Edward Creswick & Sons, based in Burnham-on-Sea, has appointed Tom Creswick to help oversee its next phase of growth.
The appointment follows the agency’s decision to operate independently under the Creswick family name in July.
Founder Edward Creswick, who has worked in the Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge property market since 1988, says the business has experienced an increase in valuations and buyer enquiries since the rebrand.
Tom brings more than a decade of property industry experience, having started his career as a junior negotiator before progressing to senior roles.
As director, he will oversee the sales team, conduct valuations and viewings, and support the agency’s expansion plans.
He joins his father, Edward, and brother, William, who oversees customer care and compliance.
Edward Creswick said: “Going independent under our own name was about building something for the long term, for our clients and for our family.
“The response has been fantastic. We’re valuing more homes, handling more enquiries and helping more people move.
“Bringing Tom back as a Director gives us the strength to keep growing without losing the personal, director-led service our clients value.”
Tom Creswick added: “Independent, family-run agents have a real advantage. Clients know exactly who they’re dealing with and who’s accountable.
“I’ve seen how other businesses grow, and I’m excited to bring that experience home and help us reach even more movers across the area.”
Winkworth appoints new director to lead Pimlico branch

Winkworth has appointed Lawrence Brown as director of its Pimlico office in London.
Brown brings more than 20 years of property industry experience to the role, including senior positions at Chestertons.
He began his career in lettings before becoming an area director at Chestertons, where he oversaw 11 offices across London.
Following a period working overseas, Brown returned to senior leadership roles in Devon, Cambridge and Essex.
He will now lead Winkworth’s Pimlico office, covering the Pimlico and Westminster property markets.
Brown said: “Winkworth’s reputation for delivering a world-class service and trusted local expertise is what makes it such a strong brand, and those values align closely with my own approach.”
Winkworth chief executive Dominic Agace welcomed the appointment.
He said: “Lawrence is exactly the kind of experienced and respected leader who will make a real difference for clients across Pimlico and Westminster. We are so pleased to welcome him as Director of our Pimlico office.”
Agace added: “This appointment also reflects our commitment to helping talented operators with the right values progress towards business ownership at Winkworth, as well as our aspirations to attract and retain the very best talent across the Winkworth network.”
Prosperity Vita names new CEO

Prosperity Vita has promoted Sayyam Mughal to chief executive officer as the Birmingham-based housing provider looks to expand its affordable and social housing portfolio.
Mughal, previously chief operating officer, takes up the role with immediate effect.
He joined parent company Prosperity Group in 2017 and has held several finance and commercial positions, including financial controller and commercial lead.
Mughal has also been involved with Prosperity Vita since its early development, including its registration with the Regulator of Social Housing in 2025.
The business operates as a for-profit registered provider of social housing, delivering and managing affordable homes within residential developments.
Its activities include providing affordable housing through Section 106 planning agreements and working with local authorities on housing delivery.
Prosperity Vita is also a Homes England Investment Partner, with a focus on the West Midlands and East of England.
Joe Billingham, chairman of Prosperity Group and a Prosperity Vita board member, said Mughal’s financial and commercial experience would support the business’s expansion.
“Sayyam has been closely involved in Prosperity Vita from the start, and his appointment reflects the contribution he has made to the business and the wider group,” he said.
“His commercial and financial experience, and his understanding of our partners and the standards we work to, make him well placed to lead Prosperity Vita through its next stage of growth.”
Mughal added: “Our focus will be on growing in a way that is sustainable and well governed, so that the homes we deliver are of a high standard and well managed for the long term.
“I look forward to working with local authorities, Homes England, our funding partners and communities as we continue to deliver much-needed affordable and social homes.”
