Simplify redundancy process targets central, support and management teams

Yesterday, after EYE broke the news of redundancy consultations being implemented at conveyancing giant Simplify, the company gave us a short statement.

A spokesperson said:

“In the context of a widely reported significant slowdown in the housing market, which is expected to continue next year, we have sadly needed to put a number of roles within central, support and management teams at risk of redundancy.

“We will be supporting all colleagues through the consultation process over the coming weeks.”

Our subsequent request for further details about how many potential redundancies are in the consultation process and which of the Simplify brands (which include Advantage Property Lawyers; Cook Taylor Woodhouse; DC Law; Gordon Brown Law; JS Law; Moving Made Easy; Move with Us; My Home Move; and Premier Property Lawyers) are involved, received a further response indicating that although the company would not talk about a specific number, those at risk of redundancy represent ‘less than 5% of the total workforce’ and that not all firms are impacted.

Simplify’s LinkedIn page says the group employs over 1,500 people at eight UK sites.
