Confirmed: Leaders Romans Group acquires Gibbs Gillespie

Leaders Romans Group has continued with its expansion plans by acquiring Gibbs Gillespie.

A spokesperson for LRG tells EYE that the transaction was competed on Friday – a press statement was issued a short while ago.

Gibbs Gillespie has been trading since 1991 after opening their first branch in Ruislip.

Launched by James Gibbs and Paul Gillespie, the company now has a network of 13 branches across across London, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

LRG plans to maintain the Gibbs Gillespie name, which is well-known in the industry, and grow it further across neighbouring areas. In Uxbridge and Gerrards Cross, where Romans already trades, LRG will trade under both brands.

Gillespie commented: “We are proud to have served our local area with market-leading property advice for over 30 years. We launched Gibbs Gillespie to set the new standard for property agents, and we are confident it will continue to do so under the LRG umbrella. There is an exciting future ahead for the business.”

Gibbs said: “I have always admired Leaders Romans Group and realised many years ago how similar we are.  I am confident the joining of Gibbs Gillespie and LRG will be a formula for an impressive and formidable group.”

Matthew Light, group mergers and acquisitions director at LRG, says he is naturally delighted to be adding “welcoming Gibbs Gillespie into the growing LRG family”.

He commented: “The founders have built a fantastic business that serves the local area and community as a highly reputable provider of property and financial advice. Adding almost 200 employees who know the area inside out is a huge benefit for LRG as it expands inside the M25.”

Kevin Shaw, group managing director of the estate agency division at LRG, added: “I am delighted to welcome a brilliant sales business into the group, which will further enhance our rapid growth and network. Our ‘keeping it local’ ethos aligns perfectly with what Gibbs Gillespie stands for, and I look forward to working with the great people that are joining LRG from the business!”

This is LRG’s third acquisition in just over a month.

The group acquired five-branch Hill & Clark last month, along with EuroLet, a single office lettings business in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire.
