My Property Box is preparing for another round of acquisitions after securing further investment from equity investor BGF.
The Darlington-based estate agency and lettings group has completed eight acquisitions since BGF first backed the business in 2024. That takes its total number of deals to 18.
The latest funding will support further expansion across northern England, where the company has been buying independent estate and letting agencies.
My Property Box, founded by Ben Quaintrell in 2012, has expanded beyond its original Darlington and Newcastle operations into North Yorkshire and Cumbria.
The company has not disclosed the value of BGF’s latest investment or identified its next acquisition targets.
Acquisition spree extends into Cumbria
My Property Box recently acquired the residential sales and lettings division of H&H Land & Estates.
The deal marked its entry into the North West and expanded its presence across Cumbria.
Previous acquisitions include the residential lettings portfolio of Middlesbrough-based Horizon Sales & Lettings.
The group has also bought County Durham agencies Ready to Rent and Newton Assets.
The latest investment suggests My Property Box intends to maintain its acquisition-led growth strategy rather than focus solely on expanding its existing branches.
Quaintrell said: “We’ve got real momentum in the business and a significant opportunity to continue growing across the North.
“BGF has been a great partner to us, and this further investment gives us the firepower to build on that momentum and deliver our ambitions for the business.”
Former Foxtons executive appointed COO
Alongside the funding announcement, My Property Box has appointed Matt Thompson as chief operating officer.
The company has created the position to oversee group performance, commercial strategy and the integration of future acquisitions.
Thompson has more than 20 years’ experience in residential property, including senior roles at Foxtons, Chestertons and Douglas & Gordon.
He will work alongside Quaintrell and chief financial officer Will Maddock.
Thompson said: “There is a significant opportunity to build on what Ben and the team have achieved to date, and I’m looking forward to helping the business continue to grow across the North.”
James Baker, an investor at BGF, said the investment company would continue supporting My Property Box’s expansion.
The latest deal adds to ongoing consolidation across the estate agency sector, as regional operators seek growth through acquisitions.
My Property Box has not disclosed its current branch count, turnover or the number of properties under management following its recent purchases.
