The Property Ombudsman (TPO) has launched a new online portal designed to make it easier for estate and letting agents to manage their membership, as the organisation reports a sharp rise in complaints.

The self-service platform allows members to track the progress of complaints, update business details, download membership certificates and access guidance from a single online hub.

It also brings together key resources frequently used by agents, including TPO’s Codes of Practice, compliance guidance, complaints handling templates, FAQs and case studies.

The launch comes as TPO revealed it received 55% more complaints during the first half of 2026 than in the same period last year, underlining the growing demand for dispute resolution across the residential property sector.

The portal is intended to streamline day-to-day interactions with members while giving agents quicker access to the information and tools needed to meet their regulatory and customer service obligations.

Lesley Horton, the chief Property Ombudsman, said: “With demand for our service increasing significantly, this portal is an important step in making support simpler, faster and more accessible for members. It gives them greater visibility, practical tools and guidance in one place, helping them manage their responsibilities with confidence while allowing our teams to focus their expertise where it can have the greatest impact.”

Matthew Lewis, membership manager at The Property Ombudsman, commented: “The aim of the portal is to make it easier for members to access the information and services they need, whenever they need them, and to reduce the need for time consuming routine emails and telephone calls to the membership team.

“Members can update many of their own details, download membership certificates and check the progress of complaints without having to contact us. That saves them time while allowing our membership team to focus on providing support where it is needed most.”
