Thanks to our generous readers, charity auction for ‘Catfest’ raises £1,000

Many thanks to those who took part in our auction where you could bid for an original portrait drawn by industry trainer Julian O’Dell.

The auction, which closed on Monday at midnight, is in aid of the cancer charity Macmillan.

Julian’s wife Cat has the illness, and the £1,100 raised will go into the “Catfest” pot.

The Catfest event – the property industry’s very own summer festival – takes place this month at the O’Dell family home.

Special thanks go to Kevin Hollinrake, who won with a top bid of £500. Kevin, who is chairman of Hunters and is a Tory MP, chose to take the Elvis picture.

Thanks also to Mark Rowe, of Rowe Property Services, who is buying the Chris Martin portrait for £300, and Nigel Keene, of Whiteknights, who is buying the Amy Whitehouse drawing for another £300.

Julian O’Dell said: “I am truly overwhelmed by the support we have received from the estate agency community for Catfest, our Macmillan fundraiser festival.

“There are many property industry folk attending Catfest, firms and suppliers who have sponsored it, others who have made donations and bought raffle tickets.

“Then on top of that, the auction of the sketches, kindly organised by one of our sponsors Property Industry Eye, has resulted in over £1,000 of funds, meaning our target of £20,000 for Macmillan is looking ever more likely.

“Those who know me recognise that I am rarely lost for words, but on this occasion, I came close.

“Thanks so much again. Marvellous.”
