A network of Your Move estate agency branches has backed local athletes competing at this summer’s Commonwealth Games, raising the question of whether more agencies should support elite sportspeople in their communities.
Your Move franchise partner Steve Hardaker Ltd, which operates 13 branches across Scotland, has provided sponsorship to athletes representing Scotland at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Meanwhile, Your Move’s Cumbria branches have supported two young athletes selected to represent England.
Each athlete has received £1,000 in sponsorship ahead of the Games, which take place in Glasgow from 23 July to 2 August.
Among those supported are weightlifters Beth Ashbee and Corey Duncan, boxers Stephanie Kernachan, Leo Church and Niamh Mitchell, para powerlifter Finlay Davidson, T20 1500m runner Ben Sandilands, karate athlete Caitlyn Rowson and S9 para swimmer Brooklyn Hale.
The initiative highlights how local estate agencies can support athletes from the communities in which they operate, many of whom rely on sponsorship to fund training and competition.
Steve Hardaker, owner of LSL Estate Agency Franchising partner Steve Hardaker, said: “We are delighted that many of our branches across Scotland are sponsoring so many of their local athletes ahead of this summer’s home Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
“We are so proud of our world-class athletes representing Scotland on the international stage, to be able to support them in this journey is a privilege. All of our team will be supporting our athletes this summer as they compete, we wish them all the success!”
