Tell us what you think of online agents, Rightmove asks vendors

Rightmove is conducting a survey into sellers’ attitudes towards online agents.

You have to get into the “partner promotion” survey to realise that this is the aim.

The headline simply says: “Have you recently sold your property or are you thinking of selling this year? We’d love to hear from you!”

In smaller text, it explains: “Here at Rightmove, we’re looking to improve your experience of searching for property and we’d like to get your views on some of our ideas.”

Offering a £50 Amazon voucher if participants choose to go into the prize draw, it questions attitudes towards the following online agents: Sell My Home; easyProperty; eMoov; Hatched; Tepilo; House Simple; Urban; YOPA; My online estate agent: House Network; I am the Agent; Purplebricks; and 121 Move.

Possible answers for each are:

Never heard of them;

Heard of them;

I know something about them but would not consider using them;

I know something about them and would consider using them;

I’ve used them/am using them to sell my home.

Rightmove does not explain in the survey why it is keen to gather home sellers’ views on online agents.

      As long as asking the public what they think doesn’t adversely promote these fraudsters. .

      Maybe rightmove are looking out for agents.  Maybe they need the public to say they don’t like online servie levels,  so they can get them off their site….maybe..

      I think any agents who want to be paid upfront should be banned on many levels…

      So far this month purplebricks have the most price reductions in our area…3 out of 3 instructions..

      They obviously over price to get their fee …   Watchdog be on the case soon. Rightmove might get there first with any luck .

    Add up all of the cash that has bee spent  and squandered on that little lot and it was only a matter of time before someone questioned why that sector is failing to gain any meaningful market share and why the companies aren’t delivering on the very confident claims made by a series of even more confident Founders & CEOs and  the high profile ‘decoys’ they employed to extract cash out of  gullible investors.

    “We will deliver HUGE profits”  “this is the beginning of the  end” “the dinosaurs are extict” Blah blah blah, yack yack yack.

    It isn’t happening, they can’t work out why so they are asking the public why.

    Rightmove doesn’t need to explain why it’s conducting the survey.  its very clear.  All its surveys are designed to surely  produce information aimed at charging more money.

    it will send out a series of loaded questions to create a false set of market data.  It will be more  DAMN LIES AND STATISTICS

    i can see it now.  the pitch to some online agent s will be:   90% of the public are aware of their online agent through the featured property page.  Cache-cIng.  ( more investor money spent)

    and wait for it”…………

    The pitch to high street agents will be something along the lines of protecting status and market share,

    No one is safe.   So I say to all the online only agents, get yourself an Amazon voucher because it’s the only good thing your going to get from this survey.

    Welcome to the BEAST.

    Dear Rightmove,

    Would you make more money if

    A: You only advertised real Estate Agents property?

    B: Only Online Estate Agents Property?

    C: Became an online estate agent yourself?

    You can only properly choose one of the above to stay in business long term.

      Dude, careful what you wish for – heaven forbid that they could actually even think of “C”.

      RM has such a strong brand and recognition factor amongst the general public that is out of this world.

      The next time I hear “You estate agents are all the same – you all list on RM don’t you?” I’ll scream.

      I do wonder if RM has “war gamed” the scenario and done a thorough market investigation behind closed doors.

      I guarantee they have, and a big-wig there has said “Not yet, but soon!”

    I don’t believe RM would wish to take on agents with their own branch based hybrid offering at this point in time.

    They are more likely to start monetizing YOUR and YOUR clients valuable data first.

    An on going prospect list of people willing to use an on line agent in the future would be very valuable information (RM may still be able to retain their agents revenue then)  and sell this data to the highest on line only agent bidder?

    RM could also sell the information of those thinking about moving but not willing to use an on line agent to their full service agents willing to pay yet more.

    1. Would RM ever sell or share their agents seller contact info to either the on line only agents, full service agents or moving related businesses?

    2. Do real time uploads include any client contact information?

    A virtuous circle that also happens to keep all troops divided ?

    This is a pretty standard brand tracker from their research team. I have similar data for 2014, 2015 based on brand awareness against marketing spend.

    Surveys, questions, how about fact and not the sales trash! Guys Set up your own survey like i did and ask every customer where they found then spend your money on the effective and productive provider? Takes a little time but the results will be quite helpful in preventing you wasting money on so called booster or branding products.
    Note this from my FB social media “property Guru”
    Today I gathered my independent data on 247 Property for past 6 months’ results section on were/who and supplies leads for tenants/vendors/landlords and buyers. Was very interesting and NOT what I expected.
    I’m making my survey bigger; I am completing a study to decided were as an agent/landlord I get more customers or in effect generate better leads based of FACT not sales bull. I’m now looking at other agents to assist and creating a interactive website were other agents/landlords can ask the “ONE” question and add to the survey live as they ask. ” Were who or how did you find your property to sell/buy/let/purchase? The results will tell us all some real truths in the market sector and where we are wasting money and who taking advantage of the lack of actual FACT. No more of its brand awareness nonsense regardless of what some sales people say.
    Remember this may then force them to compete and give more back to us customer, better service, more advertising, give more back to us the agents. The problem is we need them as its all landlords know and expect, they know this so they don’t have to do much for us or so it would seem from our point of view.
    If you would like to add to the survey from your shop or staff, from one person to many staff please pm me and ill set up a live free “ONE BUTTON” instant click survey for your staff to complete every time they talk to all customers. Then after 6 months I will make public the one question answers and you the landlords / agents people can decided where you spend your money and who with based on true facts. please like and share with our industry professionals.
    Do your research before you spend your money there are NO refunds or get out clause….? (for now!!!, unless i can prove they new the additional product they sell does not make a difference and is not FFP)  I will keep you updated on that one.
    Just my humble view
