Sale of Humberts likely to go through shortly, with ‘potential buyer an international brand’

The sale of Humberts is likely to go through this week, EYE has learned.

The likely buyer to whom we have spoken and who says their offer has apparently been accepted, is an international brand that has been looking to expand in the UK and which will keep the Humberts name.

We understand that it is looking to buy the whole business, including the goodwill, trading name and the property listings.

It is also understood that it is ready to add to the existing numbers of Humberts franchisees, with four more in the pipeline.

EYE understands that the sale could complete as early as tomorrow or Thursday.

We also understand that at least one other offer was received for Humberts by administrators at Begbies Traynor, but for only part of the business which entered administration last month.

As we reported yesterday, Connells Group has refused to comment on speculation that it might be buying the business.

Yesterday evening, Begbies Traynor said there is no sale as yet.
