Online agent is so new it has no properties – but plenty of reviews

(Editor’s note: At the time this article was written, Lovepad Limited UK was in no way affiliated to a company of the same name Lovepad Pty Ltd in Australia. In October 2017 Lovepad Pty Ltd Australia purchased the name and copyrights of Lovepad Limited UK).

A new online agent has launched, called Lovepad.

Its fees are from £595 upfront to £1,199 on completion and it says that customers could save £3,751 on the sale of a £250,000 house.

Extras include a personal account manager at £149.

At the weekend, it had no properties listed but an astonishing number of glowing reviews from very satisfied customers dating back to February 18.

What a coincidence, the same online review site that a certain other call-centre agents uses

They read as if the same person wrote them.

Dreadful. This is why review sites should hand-check every submission; it’s a responsibility to agents and consumers alike. If there is even the appearance of being able to fake ratings with ease, it harms everyone on the site. Failure to manually check every single review makes it that much harder for legit businesses to be trusted – and for their genuine reviews to be believed.

The distinct lack of capital ‘i’s is bit of a giveaway. #couldhavetriedharder

That’s unbelievable!  We’re on rateragent and trustpilot and without a doubt, rateragent is by far the most honest, transparent and toughest verification process.  SometI me it’s been so tough, a genuine review had been taken down as it was flagged up as a possible fake. Which it wasn’t.  Anyway, I prefer not that way, it just needs to become a little more mainstream with the public like trustpilot.   Review sites are great for advertising your companies online reviews but the public need to know where to look.

Lovepad’s reviews were all loaded and published 6 days ago.  This should be investigated and they should be fined.  It’s false advertising and manipulation to the public.  It’s so tough to get people to leave reviews and for this to happen just takes the biscuit. Online or otherwise it needs to individually verified.

I feel like I am repeating myself.

Maybe it’s owned by the same wealthy business man who left all his money to his poor niece but she doesn’t have a bank account and wants me (YES ME SO BACK OFF !!) to put this $30m in to my bank account and all she wants is a small amount to live on for the rest of her life and I get to keep the rest.

So you guys know I would be really cheesed off if you have emailed your bank details to her too because she promised me this money and even though it’s been a few weeks I am sure the money will be in there really soon.

All but three of the reviews are by first-time users of Trustpilot.

The others three all have posted more than one – but ALL ON THE SAME DAY.  None before; none since.

The smell of ******** is revolting…

I see their Ts & Cs make mention of having to comply with the Property Misdescriptions Act 1991. How very passe for such a new company.

Shouldn’t have had to take @propindeye / social media to discover this. Review sites are obliged under the CPR to have proper checks in place: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/507204/Online_reviews_60SS_dos_and_donts_v2.pdf.

“If the way you manage or present reviews misleads consumers, you could be in breach of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.”

How many hundreds, thousands of other reviews have similarly slipped through the net? How can that ‘score’ mean anything?

        Grrrr.

It seems that, despite so many glowing reviews of people saving money, LovePad have yet to take on a single property for sale or rent.
