New portal launches in UK with major advertising campaign in media

A portal new to the UK is setting out its stall as having all the functionality of Zoopla and Rightmove, but offering much more.

The World Property Network – TWPN – has taken out big press adverts, including a full page in the Sunday Times Home section last weekend and this, and London Evening Standard.

It currently offers around 380,000 worldwide properties from, it is claimed, more than 900 agents.

Listings can be searched for in 72 different languages, with prices given in 32 currencies.

TWPN, which is based in London and Dubai, also white-labels itself for estate agents. It is offering free listings to UK agents until next April.

Yesterday afternoon it showed 2,114 results for sale properties in the UK, with homes listed by north London and Hertfordshire agent Statons making very frequent appearances. Statons, so far the only UK agent on TWPN, white labels TWPM.

The Statons site also yesterday showed it listing on TWPN, Rightmove and OnTheMarket. Peter Mansfield, chairman of TWPN, stressed there was no contravention of OTM’s “one other portal rule” because TWPN is a global offering enabling UK agents to market properties to international buyers, and this had been agreed with OTM. “We made sure we ticked that box,” said Mansfield yesterday.

Mansfield, who has a background in aviation, describes himself as a property investor who has bought and sold property all over the world.

Nick Staton, founder of Statons, said he believed TWPN has the potential of YouTube or Facebook.

Well – lets just state the obvious and throw open a mahoosive can of worms…

…this thing we use every day – the worldwide web – means that EVERY property portal enables UK Agents to market properties to international buyers.

The problem with cracks is that they widen.

it seems that the criteria for what is a portal is basically Ian Springett , arm out and the thumb goes up or down.

Change Zoopla’s name to ‘Zoopla International’ and there is no problem with listing with OTM. lol

so some portals are not portals and some are portals, this can’t get any more mismanaged if they tried.

OTM was and remains, a worthy idea but appears to being mishandled and mismanaged. If it is to survive as a viable project, painful changes now need to be made.

So in court, Connells barrister says that OTM have a one other portal rule.  This rule. Is only enforced to Connells portal of choice,  Zoopla.  If they drop Zoopla and use net house prices, houser, or now TWPN or maybe all three it ok.

Good luck with that mr springett.  I hope you have faith in your legal advisors because they seem like a bunch of wholly’s

    Good luck TWPN

Why or why would AM want to dabble with the idea if it is true? Hold your horses …….. read the story again. It is an agent “Statons” saying they had confirmed they hadn’t breach OTM rules. What’s the official response from AM? and while we are at it all those on facebook etc are breaching the rules? The hole that is appearing with AM one other portal rule is it applies to UK agents advertising on UK portals, targeting the UK market. If I wanted to advertise to the Australian market for example and used a web portal over their, AM cant stop me but they started to dabble into the international market …. should have stayed out of it, bad foresight.

Its so easy to just jump in when OTM is mentioned but as with most reporting, often there is something missing and I do have to ask this question …..

The one other portal rule applies to web portals that are based marketing within and to the UK market. TWPN were not when Statons used them internationally, therefore there would not be a breach of the OTM rules. The issue today is that TWPN have now only just become UK based marketing and would fall within OTM other portal rule, so Statons and any other agent thinking of using/continuing to use them have to reconsider their position with OTM rules as from today?

    Well OTM

Your days of the OPR are numbered.

Problem is TWPN might even take your mantle as third for UK property too!
