Keller Williams breakaway group launch new self-employed agency brand

Chris Buckler

Chris Buckler – former operating principal at Keller Williams London Bridge, has launched ‘The Estate Agency’, a UK self-employed model, which he says aims to close the gap on its North American rivals.

The brand, featuring British Racing Green colours, will be part of what Buckler believes will be the key reasons agents will choose his model.

“Branding is key, and we’ve designed something that doesn’t compete with the agent, rather, it lifts them up – a brand they are proud to be associated with.

“The three areas of difference that The Estate Agency will focus on are support, marketing and tech”.

Buckler has operated in the self employed space for over eight years and says that he believes that if he can raise the bar in these three areas it will make all the difference.

“All the models out there are great. I’m certainly not saying we are the best, but our aim is to be best in class in these specific areas”.

He brings Andrew Bryant with him who worked alongside Buckler at KW London Bridge as well as previously holding senior positions at Foxtons and Spicerhaart. Bryant will be running operations for the business whilst The Estate Agency grows out its Leadership Team.

Buckler has taken a lead out of Uber’s book as The Estate Agency, which currently has 27 agents, are offering a reduced cap for the first 50 agents that join of £20,000, down for £30,000. Under The Estate Agency’s model, agents take 70% of commission until they “cap” when they then retain 96%.

The Estate Agency also offers a Revenue Share model, but Buckler insists you have to be experienced to join and they won’t be recruiting just to be able to boast about agent count.

Josh Smith, an ex KW agent who has made the move with this team to The Estate Agency says he did so based on, “Business growth, in house marketing, and tech that nurtures your database – not to mention earning potential. What we have at The Estate Agency isn’t currently offered by any other model. It was a no brainer.”

Is there an agent out there, that takes all your calls, sales chases and pays for rightmove?

Their website is very similar to KW. Their area guides seem like the were written by AI. Their total lack of compliance is astonishing – just like KW. I know they are a new business, but that wont save them if trading standards take a look.
