Tim O’Riordan – a popular estate agents that worked in the industry for 30 years – sadly passed away last week at the age of 61.
Tim – along with Simon Bond – set up O’Riordan Bond in 1995, opening their first branch in Northampton. The first fifteen years saw rapid expansion across Northampton, Milton Keynes and Luton in a short period of time. The company was hit hard as many were by the crash of 2007 but has since rebuilt – doubling in size over the last three years to fifteen offices, employing one hundred staff across sales, lettings and mortgage businesses.
Simon Bond, Tims business partner, said: “There is no doubt Tims charisma, leadership and magnetism set him apart from many…he was a one off, loved by pretty much everyone he came into contact with and without doubt he knew how to have fun…there are many who have a Tim O’Riordan story to tell.
“Agency back in the 90’s and Noughties was a lot of fun – before the age of social media – and was built on face to face contact, trust and the ability to be different. Culture and teams were built on a work, hard play and hard philosophy, and Tim led the way making him a real legend in Northamptonshire.
“Tim and I focused on making O’Riordan Bond different when we first opened – and I feel we remain so to this day – focusing on dominating local market share through a high density of satellite branches in the heart of local communities. But a huge part of our early success was very much through the force and charisma of Tim who was just so exciting to be around. There were no cameras to hide behind. Tim was uncompromisingly himself and clients, colleagues and friends alike loved him for it – he was a real one off. I have never met anyone like Tim in our industry – his ability to light up a room was second to none and I feel so proud to have been his partner and great friend for so many years, above all it was just great fun!”
Retiring from O’Riordan Bond in 2022 and moving to Dorset, Tim remained close with Simon and many of the team and was very proud of seeing the company doubling in size over the last three years. Tims funeral is on 21st August at 2pm at East Coker Church in Somerset and his family are asking for a real celebration of a life that was undoubtedly well lived.
