Guild says it saves its members over £27,000 a year because of group buying power

As buying clubs spring up and offer savings to members, the Guild of Property Agents has claimed that its own members can save over £27,000 a year.

CEO Iain McKenzie said: “An independent estate agent will struggle to be able to find businesses and service providers that will give them special rates on their own.

“As part of a large professional network, an estate agent will be able to bring down their service costs and save money, while providing excellent customer service and increasing their revenue.”

He said that as a network of around 800 members, the Guild has been able to use their size and influence to negotiate deals with service providers.

He said: “We know that if we had to tally up the cost of each individual product offered by he Guild, such as the proptech services and revenue generating tools, on average an estate agency would pay in the region of £2,774 a month.

“However, if an estate agent becomes a member of The Guild they will get those products and services for a monthly fee of £495, saving them around £2,279 a month and £27,348 over the a year. This means that our members can provide an exceptionally high number of marketing services and products to their clients for a fraction of the cost that a non-member could.

“Over the term of a year we would have saved an approximate total in excess of £21m for the network.”

He said that this year the Guild will be introducing more products offered at discounted prices to members.

People seem to like the back slapping at the conference’s but struggle to see what daily benefits you get for 500 plus vat a month.

Savings offered by third party companies associated with the Guild you can usually negotiate yourself with little effort.

We left them years ago – diverted the money elsewhere and never looked back. All of their products are heavily branded as “The Guild” rather than the member agents. They’re all about self-promotion.

They then lost AL credibility when they got into bed with easyproperty. They were supposed to be championing and supporting proper agents.

We left nearly a year a go after 10 years of paying out. Brief your market jumped ship a valuable marketing tool. They should have done a deal with RM for its 800 members instead of getting involved with Easy Property which did annoy the hell out of member agents. I’m afraid I didn’t see that clients appreciated me being a member on valuations.

I looked into this not so long ago, the key discount you want is for portals and they dont offer any discount whatsoever. Couldnt see the financial benefits personally.

Consider this-  with an 800 office affinity group Iain McKenzie is one of the most influential figures in the industry. At his disposal he  effectively has a professional Purplebricks, an independent corporate, a not franchise franchise. He has economies of scale discount, he has the confidence and experience to tie all of that together and the people skills to have the support of a  good team.

The Guild used to have a problem; that of alienating service suppliers  either by being too aggressive on prices or replicating and replacing the service. Iain has stopped that which makes  the Guild attractive to the best services and suppliers. In a short time the Guild has changed and with  Fine and Country headed up by David Lindley,  the group is a force to be reckoned with.

Pay peanuts get monkeys. Poor back end software and atrocious websites will cost you more than you save.
