Expanding agent says some are leaving the high street – ‘But we’re moving in’

An estate agent is marking 25 years of selling homes by expansion on the high street.

Norfolk agent Sowerbys is opening a new branch in Fakenham, and enlarging its Norwich office by taking over the adjacent building formerly occupied by estate agent Allgood & Davey which has relocated within the city.

Max Sowerby started his firm from scratch in Burnham Market in 1994.

The latest opening will bring the branch network to nine.

The expansion at Norwich will take the historic Old Bank of England Court building back to one large office – as it was years ago, when occupied by another agent, Brown & Co.

Altogether, Sowerbys has invested some £100,000 in its latest expansion.

Sowerbys says it had its best ever month this April.

Max Sowerby told the local paper: “We are bucking the trend. Some businesses are moving out of the high street but we are moving in.”
