A competition to track down as many golden estate agent boards as possible, that were placed in locations across Leeds, has been won by Grace Gordon from Horsforth who has scooped £1,500 and is now busy planning two trips away.

As part of the competition, organised by HOP, the Leeds estate agent also partnered with UK charity Magic Breakfast and has now donated 2,000 filling and nutritious breakfasts to deprived children.

HOP, which has offices in Leeds city centre and Horsforth, distributed 200 of its famous purple boards and 20 special golden boards throughout Leeds for the competition. Budding investigators who found the golden boards, with the help of clues posted on HOP’s social media pages, had to post a picture of it on Instagram or Facebook.

Participants could enter the competition each time they found a golden board and all the entries were entered into a prize draw, with the winner chosen at random once the competition closed. After her name was picked, Grace visited HOP’s Horsforth office, on New Road Side, to collect her £1,500 prize for a foreign city break or holiday of her choice.

Grace, who found nine of the boards, said: “This was a great competition that tested my knowledge of Leeds, and I couldn’t believe it when I found out I’d won, I feel so lucky! We’re now planning to visit either Devon or Cornwall with the dogs and then maybe Majorca for the beautiful beaches and summer sun, and I can’t wait!”

Abi Noble from HOP said: “This is the fifth time we’ve run this competition, which is always hugely popular, and this year we had almost 100 entries. Some of the boards are on main roads but others are more discrete, so anyone playing will have their local knowledge tested and have to think strategically about the clues we give them.

“Grace did brilliantly well, finding nine boards, and we were delighted to present her with her prize and hope she enjoys a fantastic trip.

“It’s also great to start a new partnership with Magic Breakfast. The organisation does a superb job providing breakfasts to thousands of UK children every morning, at a time when many families are struggling to put food on the table. The 2,000 breakfasts that we’ve donated equate to 10 meals for each of the 200 boards we put up for this competition and many of the schools the organisation works with are here in West Yorkshire, so it’s a fantastic charity to support.”
