Energy efficiency comes high up in the list of ‘wants’ for buyers and tenants

Energy efficiency is in high demand among home buyers and renters, with over a fifth wanting reduced CO2 emissions in their next home, notably in the form of energy-efficient appliances and electric car-charging points.

New research on behalf of Jackson-Stops asked 2,000 UK adults for their views.

It found that features which would reduce CO2 emissions were seen as more important that living close – within one mile – to good transport links.

Londoners showed the strongest preference towards reducing CO2 emissions, with 31% stating this was important.

Nick Leeming, chairman of Jackson-Stops, said: “These responses encompass both renters and buyers, indicating an opportunity not only for developers but also landlords and vendors.

“Owners of properties with these features should speak to their local agent about any potential premium they can attract in the current market.”

EPC’s      –     waste of money and time.            As agents we have not had one tenant ask to see the full EPC since the start of this regulation.  Sure we give it to them before moving in but no one has asked for it or even is bothered by it.
Im sure if I did research of 2000 of our tenants over the last few years close to parking/transport would be one of the highest points and way above any thought of reducing co2. Perhaps tenants could stop breathing for 30 seconds a day – think of the impact of that – genius.
Co2 a natural gas given off by most living things.      Unfortunatly our MP’s give off in excess of their worth.

Like seenitall I can only recall one incident where the EPC was requested.  However, it is apparently so so important to Government that it is used as a tool to trip up landlords.  I think this demonstrates just how manipulative politicians are.
