Countrywide’s busy boss gives up one of his roles outside the agent

Countrywide has announced that its acting boss, Peter Long, has relinquished one of his roles outside the estate agency.

He stood down from Parques Reunidos Servicios Centrales SAU yesterday.

Listed on the Spanish Stock Exchange, Long was its non-executive chairman.

Long said: “After careful consideration of my overall business commitments, I made the decision some time ago to reduce them.

“I am therefore stepping down now from the Parques board.”

Long has come under pressure for being ‘over-boarded’ – the term used for executives perceived to have so many appointments that they are unable to devote as much time as they should to an important role.

However, Long remains chairman of Royal Mail.

The busy Long became executive chairman of troubled Countrywide after CEO Alison Platt resigned on January 24. There has not been an announcement about a search for any replacement.

Countrywide, whose shares yesterday rose 1.4% to finish at around 51p, is due to announce its half-year results and recovery plan next week on July 26.

Looking on LinkedIn times are desperate.

Cheap bottles of wine, achiever breakfasts the irrelevant rightmove stats.

All of them tagging each other in and back slapping.

    They are not fooling anyone.

If they do have any re ‘Top Achivers’ left they should head for the door now.

I tend to think differently Smile, I see the benefit of back slapping and congratulations even for the tiniest achievement.

Countrywide  got caught up in disruption group think, its all going online innit?!

They have suffered the consequences, realised disruption is an expensive mugs game and put a halt to the nonsense..

Countrywide is a series of good #local businesses brought together to enjoy corporate economies of scale, getting back to their #local roots and history is the key to their recovery.

Agency is a simple business that’s focused on individual branch success, let them celebrate getting back to what works  for them and for you; it is a reinforcement that disruption is a mugs game that will cost investors a shed load of money. The Countrywide board have been smart enough to try it and dismiss it before it did irreparable damage.

Seeing Countrywide recover will send shivers down the spines of those heavily into an industry they don’t understand thanks to the silver tongues of a few convincing tailors and their tales of fine threads and cloth.

I don’t know Robert, maybe all that is needed is putting post office counters in the branches and Mr. Long can benefit from economy of time!

Sorry Robert but I feel it smacks of desperation.

        Similar to the PurpleBricks cult.

LinkedIn is mostly B2B not B2C they are not fooling the agents that know how poor the offices (and company) are performing.

If you want to celebrate pop it on FB or Twitter. It shows still how out of touch CW is and not in tune with their perspective customers.

This is where independents win and keep winning. They have a better idea of how marketing works.

I’m glad to see Peter Long has given up his other day job of amusement and fair ground ride manager in Spain 🙂

This is the company synopsis- PARQUES REUNIDOS Servicios Centrales SA manages amusement parks. The Company offers parks including zoo and nature parks, family entertainment centers, cable cars, and water parks. Parques Reunidos Servicios Centrales operates throughout Spain.

Looks like his other ‘ job ‘ at Royal Mail isn’t in great shape either. Paying 6 million quid for a new CEO. A guy living in Switzerland and will commute a couple of days a week! probably ex-BUPA?  You couldn’t make it up.
