Savills appoints new residential sales director

James Starkey

Savills has appointed James Starkey to lead its residential sales team in Guernsey as the agency looks to expand its presence on the island.

Starkey joins as a director and brings around a decade of experience in residential property.

He previously worked for Guernsey agents Swoffers and Cooper Brouard before moving to London in 2023.

In the capital, Starkey worked in the prime Mayfair and Marylebone markets. Most recently, he led Chestertons’ Richmond office.

His return to Guernsey will see him head a Savills residential team that includes director Nick Paluch, sales associate Kelsey Gerrard and sales consultants Megan Chipperfield and Monique Search.

Starkey said: “Whilst I enjoyed my time in London immensely, Guernsey has a way of drawing people back and this was a great opportunity that came at the right time both personally and professionally.

“I grew up on the island, so I know just what a wonderful place it is to call home. I’m very excited to join a company I have long admired, but also to work alongside a group of highly experienced agents who I have known for several years.”

Tony Rowbotham, head of office at Savills Guernsey, said the appointment forms part of plans to expand the residential operation.

He commented: “He [Starkey] brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to a core area of our business where we are looking to grow and increase our market share.

“He has a thorough understanding of the Guernsey property markets and his arrival ensures the evolution and expansion of our team continues and the services we offer to our clients is further enhanced.”
