Propertymark appoints of two new non-executive directors

Paul Hemsley and Karen McArthur will join Propertymark’s board, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge.

Hemsley will also chair the organisation’s Audit and Risk Committee and has vast non-executive director and chair experience. With a chief financial officer background in listed, public & private sector organisations, he has acted as group finance director of The Innovation Group (TIG) and Reliance Security Group (RSG).

Hemsley trained as a chartered accountant in the UK and USA offices of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and holds an honours degree in History from the University of London. He is also Fellow of the RSA.

He said: “I’m really pleased to have been given the opportunity to join the Propertymark Board, especially given all the upcoming improvements on the horizon. I am also looking forward to adding some extra insight into the Audit and Risk Committee.”

Karen McArthur

Karen McArthur is a well-experienced non-executive director and chair with a portfolio of roles in membership and regulated sectors and has extensive experience in governance, transformation and risk. She will also chair Propertymark’s new Nominations and Remuneration Committee.

Her current roles include chair of The Waterway Ombudsman, independent commissioner at the Direct Marketing Commission and lay member roles with professional regulators.

She commented: “Propertymark is a respected and growing organisation and I’m excited to be part of its journey. I’m looking forward to getting my feet under the table and working with the Board to deliver more value for members.”

Hemsley and McArthur are joining Propertymark as it presses ahead with its “new vision and business strategy”, according to Nicky Heathcote, the organisation’s executive chair.

“With lots of change happening, having their knowledge within the board will really help us progress the organisation further,” she said.

 

Knight Frank appoints new head of Channel Islands

Knight Frank has appointed Oliver Rodbourne as head of the firm’s residential sales for the Channel Islands.

Rodbourne’s career in residential property began in London, where he worked as a sales negotiator for over a decade, before moving to Knight Frank in 2015 to lead the National Country department’s South East team.

As head of the South East team he has spent the past five years marketing coastal and rural prime properties across Kent, Sussex and South Surrey. Rodbourne will continue to head up the South East team alongside his new role as head of Channel Islands.

In his new role, Rodbourne will oversee the prime markets across all the Channel Islands, with particular focus on Guernsey and Jersey. He will be working in collaboration with Knight Frank’s associate partners, Wilsons Estate Agents, handling sales of the Channel Island’s most prestigious properties.

Rodbourne will also be closely working with Knight Frank’s Sarah May-Brown, the head of Channel Islands for the Knight Frank private office.

Rodbourne commented, “My strong networks in London, the South East and through Knight Frank’s Private Office mean I’m well positioned to meet the demand for coastal property and attraction of the tax savings offered by the Channel Islands.

“It’s already been a busy start to the new role, and I’m pleased to report that, alongside Wilsons, our associate in Jersey,  we’ve been instructed on a landmark sale which will be coming to the market very soon”

 

Rockwell promotes Nicholas Mee to managing director 

London-based property developer Rockwell has announced the promotion of Nicholas Mee to managing director UK.

Previously board director and head of land, Mee’s 15 years’ experience spanning acquisitions, investment, construction and marketing across both residential and commercial sectors.

Prior to joining Rockwell, Mee held roles within the property team at Lidl UK overseeing estate management, site acquisition, planning and construction; he then joined real estate developer, R55, before an opportunity arose to join the Rockwell team in 2018.

Mee said: “I look forward to building on Rockwell’s impressive legacy and leading the immensely talented team to deliver world-class developments.”

Donal Mulryan, founder of Rockwell, added: “Over the years, he [Mee] has played an integral role in the success and growth of our business, and this promotion is testament to Nicholas’ wealth of knowledge and exceptional performance.”
