Midlands-based Butters John Bee, one of the oldest estate agencies in the UK, is rolling out a new expansion programme for the business.

The company is part of the Spicerhaart group which has recently unveiled its new Partnership programme for sister company haart.

Now BJB, which dates back to 1856, has followed suit, with a number of home-based positions available for estate agents as Partners.

“These are fully employed positions, not self-employed, giving our staff all the benefits associated with being part of the Spicerhaart group, while offering great flexibility and work-life balance,” said Group Managing Director Antony Lark.

“Those taking up the roles absolutely love the opportunity it brings.

“We’ve started by offering a number of roles to some of our existing Branch Managers but will be unveiling new locations in time, with Partners supported by the branch network and our national call centre, backed up by advanced technology and exceptional marketing.”

Among those promoted to Partner are Bev Shingler-Day, who will be responsible for the Telford area.

She said: “We may have a long history in the area, but we’re extremely innovative and forward-thinking, adapting to the demands of the changing workplace as a result of Covid-19.

“It’s a very exciting opportunity, enabling me to be far more responsive to customers at a time that suits them, rather than being in an office 9-5.”

Thomas O’Brien, who will be responsible for Kidsgrove, added:

“The flexibility is really helpful at the moment as the market is incredibly busy. I listed a house for sale at 9.30 pm the other evening and had two viewings lined up for the following morning. You can’t do that working office hours!”

His father Peter also joins the team as the new Partner for Alsager.

EYE questioned whether the expansion programme might mean branch closures and redundancies.

We have been told there are no redundancy consultations and there are no locations closing, but two branches will move to Partnerships.
