Estate agency franchise owners complete second acquisition in a fortnight

L-R: Liam Reilly, Nick Heaton and Chan Khangura

Major Whitegates franchise owners have continued their rapid expansion with another acquisition in West Yorkshire.

Chan and Kashmir Khangura, alongside associate director Liam Reilly, have completed their 13th deal, adding Intelligent Lettings – covering Huddersfield, Wakefield, Pontefract and surrounding areas—to their growing portfolio.

The move follows just two weeks after the group acquired Claire Ramsbottom’s lettings portfolio in Huddersfield, which has since been integrated into their Whitegates branch in the town. The business already operates Whitegates offices in Huddersfield, Brighouse and Pontefract, as well as a Martin & Co office in Pontefract.

Intelligent Lettings, previously run by Nick and Tracy Heaton, marks another step in the Khanguras’ ongoing growth strategy, further strengthening their presence and managed lettings portfolio across the region.

Chan, managing director of Whitegates Huddersfield, Brighouse, Mirfield and Pontefract, has been a franchise owner since 2012 and has expanded the business through a mix of organic growth and acquisitions. The addition of Intelligent Lettings extends the group’s presence across West Yorkshire.

Under the agreement, Intelligent Lettings’ portfolio will be integrated into the Whitegates operations in Huddersfield and Pontefract. The Pontefract office is led by associate director Liam Reilly, who was appointed in 2024. Landlords and tenants will transition into the existing structure, with current tenancies and relationships continuing under the new management.

Chan Khangura said: “Intelligent Lettings is a well-respected business with a strong local presence across Huddersfield, Wakefield and Pontefract. Nick and Tracy have built excellent relationships with their landlords, and we are committed to maintaining the same high standards of service. This acquisition is a natural fit for our existing operation, and we look forward to welcoming their clients into Whitegates and supporting them going forward.”

Rob Smith, group managing director of The Property Franchise Group, added: “Chan and Kashmir’s continued growth is a clear example of what can be achieved through a disciplined and strategic approach to acquisitions. Reaching thirteen completed acquisitions is an impressive milestone and reflects their dedication to building a high-quality, sustainable lettings business within the Whitegates network.”
