Updated How to Rent Guide set to be published today following delay

An updated How to Rent Guide, a checklist for renting in England which must be issued by both letting agents and landlords to new tenants or those renewing, is set to be released later today.

It is essential that agents issue the correct and current version of the How to Rent guide as a failure to do so before the tenants move in can invalidate a Section 21 notice used to regain possession.

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities (DHLUC) has delayed publishing an updated version of the How to Rent Guide.

The revised guide was supposed to be launched last Friday, but it is expected to be published today.

Nathan Emerson, CEO of Propertymark, commented: “It’s vital that agents have clarity to ensure they issue the latest version of the document.

“We will continue to work with the UK government and inform the industry of any further updates.”
