The great house price slump of 2017 – whatever happened to it?

TV property pundit Henry Pryor says he will buy lunch for online agent Russell Quirk after the latter claimed victory over forecasts for this year’s housing market.

With less than a fortnight to go – but not quite all the official figures in – it looks as though Quirk may be right and Pryor may have conceded defeat.

Pryor had forecast that house prices would fall 4% this year.

Quirk had forecast they would go up by, er, 4%.

So who is right?

Well, the Land Registry’s latest figures may only go to October, but they show a 3.86% rise in house prices in England and Wales.

Quirk also forecast a rise in interest rates to 0.5%. He was right on this one too.

However, the offer of a free lunch will not cost Pryor too much: it is at McDonald’s where prices start at around £2.

We look forward to hearing how they get on with their festive meal, or will it be seasonally adjusted?

    So that’s settled then….the meeting to the 2 intellectual giants of the world of property. Big Mac to go please…! 🙂

    I’ve only heard Henry Pryor speak once – on the radio about BTL taxes. He had no idea and spoke inane nonsense.

    You should listen more often ‘RosBeck73’, whoever you are hiding behind your sad cloak of anonymity. You’ll be amazed how much nonsense I can speak!

    If you were a braver and stepped into the light people might be a little more interested in what you had to say. Perhaps, if you were real rather just a serial number you might, for instance, appear above the fold rather than below it along with the other graffiti artists.

    As you can see the competition isn’t that tough and who knows, you might actually be worth listening to?

      This sad cloak of anonymity,  take the 73 off the end and that is Dr Rosalind Beck who seems to command a great deal more respect than you.

    Oh, Mr Pryor…

    In your rush to alienate yourself from every form of life in the pond you really, really should – just once in a while – stop and think for a nanosecond that:

    Not everybody craves the degree of media attention that you court;

    That some people simply like to say their bit and move on to the next subject without their entire work and personal history being squeezed through a mangle;

    And that many of those whose identities are kept under wraps for whatever reason have a lot more sense to impart than your goodself – and it shows.

    In respect of the above, I’m not seeking anything other than my industry taking its’ finger off the self destruct button (which certainly doesn’t need my identity to achieve); I have no skeletons in my closet either at work or home for you or anyone else to get all drippy over… and whilst I certainly do not class myself as one of the latter, I have an opinion on many aspects of my industry that EYE gives me the opportunity (much to your utter disgust, I’m delighted to say) to air and debate.

    Try reading some of what ‘RosBeck73’ has written previously on EYE.  See if you can figure out who ‘RosBeck73’ actually is – which is I respectfully suggest what you should have done before pressing ‘POST COMMENT’.

    No doubt we will hear the penny dropping if and when it happens…

    Seasons greetings from the pond.
