The first ever National Conveyancing Week gets underway

The first ever National Conveyancing Week (NCW) is now underway, with hundreds of law firms in England, Wales and Northern Ireland supporting it and taking part. A number of estate agents are also getting involved.

The purpose of NCW is to raise the profile of conveyancing and conveyancers, and to try to create a better understanding of what they do, how they do it and why. There are numerous panel sessions, webinars and podcasts being broadcast throughout the week. They are all free to watch by anyone who has the desire to watch them.

The content of at least four of events will be of interest not just to conveyancers but also to some estate agents:

  • HSBG Upfront Information Roadshow
  • Collaboration with agents, clients, mortgage advisors, and others
  • Practicalities of a better working relationship with Estate Agents
  • A quick guide to conveyancing for estate agents and others

The Upfront Information Roadshow will be live on the 21st March, the collaboration event is mainly law firms opening up their offices and inviting in their agent contacts to show them what they do, how they do it and in some cases share some refreshments.

The practicalities of a better working relationship with estate agents is already recorded, and two of the four panelists are estate agents, Matt Baldock of Charles David Casson and Sean Darlow of William Rose.

A quick guide to conveyancing for estate agents and others is being presented by Ian Quayle. He is qualified as a solicitor and worked in private practice for 12 years specialising in property law matters generally before moving in house and as a consultant for national house builders and national and international property developers. For the last 16 years Quayle has delivered training for mainstream training providers as well as privately for city and regional firms, local law societies, and local authorities.

So confused from the article, are the conveyors going to get quicker after years of technology or they going to go even slower?

Conveyancers will work as quickly as the legal niceties (not much nice about some of them though) of conveyancing and the home moving process generally allows them. NCW is more about understanding and collaboration. If an awareness of both increase that can only be a positive.
