Rightmove reveals UK’s most expensive streets in 2024

New analysis from Rightmove unveils the most expensive streets to buy a home in the UK currently, with Buckingham Gate in Westminster, topping the list, with an average asking price of £9,633,333.

Taking second place for the priciest street to live on is Vicarage Gate in Holland Park, with an average price tag of £6,332,000, while third most expensive is Park Road in St John’s Wood, with an average of £5,814,286.

Sales searches for prestigious London boroughs are also up, with areas such as Mayfair (+35% YoY), St John’s Wood (+15% YoY) and Holland Park (+11% YoY) all seeing an increase in sales searches this year, compared to last year.

Old Avenue in Weybridge, Surrey, is currently the most expensive street to buy outside of London, with an average asking price of £2,633,333.

Next most expensive outside London is The Ridgeway in Cuffley, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, with an average asking price of £2,289,286, and in third Manor Road in Chigwell, Essex, where properties are currently on average listing at £2,219,444.

On the lettings side the most expensive street to rent in the UK is Albion Street in Bayswater, West London, here properties on average are renting for £20,857 per month. This is followed by Pavilion Road in Knightsbridge, where you can rent a property for £15,251 on average per month. Duke Street in Mayfair has taken the third spot for the most expensive street to rent, where you can expect to pay on average £14,441 per month.

Outside of London, the most expensive street to rent is London Road in Ascot, Berkshire, where on average a property is rented for £6,831 per month. Manor Road in Chigwell, Essex is the second most expensive street to rent this year, with an average monthly rent of £4,311. Deansgate in Manchester follows closely behind where you will find properties costing around £3,766 per month on average.

Rightmove’s Tim Bannister said: “London’s status as the hub of luxury property in the UK remains unchallenged, with Buckingham Gate in Westminster commanding the highest average asking price. Although the possibility of buying one of these homes is limited to a very lucky few, there’s clearly a fascination with these prestigious homes as we find they’re often among our most viewed properties on Rightmove.”
