Police start new search for missing estate agent Suzy Lamplugh

Police have started a new search for missing estate agent Suzy Lamplugh.

Officers from Metropolitan Police and West Mercia Police are searching areas of land in Pershore, Worcestershire.

They say they received new information following publicity around last November’s search of a property in Sutton Coldfield which was the former home of the mother of prime suspect John Cannan.

Police said that Suzy’s family had been notified but that there would no comment on any speculation surrounding the search.

They stressed that the owner of the land being searched is not connected to the investigation.

Police have asked anyone who knows anything that could assist to call 020 7230 4294.

Suzy, 25, vanished from work in 1986 apparently while meeting a man on a viewing. She was declared dead in 1994.

Her parents have both since died not knowing what happened to their daughter.

Although Cannan, a convicted murderer, was named as chief suspect back in 2002, no one has ever been charged with Suzy’s murder.

There have been earlier searches for Suzy’s body in Worcestershire in 2000, 2001 and 2010, not far from the latest search area.

Police, who are using a mechanical digger, say their search will last about two weeks.

The search is unconnected to another recent development where a former Scotland Yard investigator, David Videcette, believed that Suzy never went on the viewing, which he has put to police.

The Suzy Lamplugh Trust, whose focus is on safety at work and which was set up by Suzy’s parents, said in a statement yesterday: “We hope that the current investigations will be successful and provide some resolution to Suzy’s case.”

I have never forgotten this tragic and shocking case. Just read here that her parents died without any closure which so awful. I just hope they catch the bastard that did this and punish him properly.
