Picture of the Week – and frankly it’s a tip.
Or, as the agents for this three-bedroom home in Exeter say in the details, “in need of modernisation” which seems to be a euphemism for “You’ll need several skips and a year’s supply of Marigolds”.
We wondered how the late great Roy Brooks would have described it.
In fact, we’d be quite interested to know how other agents might deal with a property such as this.

These days ‘hoarding’, or however you would describe this, is commonly recognised as a form of mental illness, and as such, if I were the acting agent, I would not show internal photographs online. I have dealt with similar properties in the past and have always just shown external photographs with a detailed floor plan. I feel that this approach is a lot more respectful towards clients.

I’d help with the clean-up if I wanted to earn my commission. I wouldn’t set foot in it (and certainly not a viewer) until it was in a state fit to be sold.

What on earth is the agent thinking!? Funny, but a clear indication the agent has no idea about marketing or promotion. #clueless
The idea of photos is to show the property in it’s best possible light. If the photos don’t do that then don’t use them. Simple.

On a serious note, I’d imagine that there is a health and safety issue there with regards to both staff and potential buyers entering the property?

There is a fundamental floor with this photograph…..never take a picture with the TV on. The viewers attention is drawn to whats on the box, which then detracts from the size and the scope of the room itself. Basic principles of good photography and representation!
