Over 40 jobs at risk as four branches set to close

Nottingham Building Society has put staff at four of its estate agency branches into consultation after announcing closure proposals.

Three of the four branches are in Northampton.

Over the last five years, the society has increased its network from 32 to over 60 as it has pursued an ‘all under one roof’ strategy, with customers being able to locate mortgages, properties and other services in one place.

However the four branches it plans to close are estate agency only. They are: Bushmead Luton, Duston, East Hunsbury and Northampton.

Some 41 jobs would be affected by the closures, but the Nottingham says staff would be offered alternative employment where possible.

David Marlow, chief executive officer, said: “We are not immune to the challenging estate agency market, which has already impacted some of the biggest industry names.”

The society’s estate agencies trade under the brands of Nottingham Estate Agency and Harrison Murray.

Nottingham Building Society acquired 18-branch Harrison Murray in 2013.

Just Googled them – do they actually know Google exists? Reviews? No. Can I find most of their branches? No.
