Oops! Glitch values semi at over £14m

A semi in an area where, according to Zoopla, the average house price is £121,814 was mistakenly valued on the site at more than £14m.

Annabel and Dan MacDonald, who own the home in Balmerino Drive, Stornoway, estimate its actual value to be closer to £150,000.

Mr MacDonald said the house was not for sale, but that he would consider selling if someone was willing to pay millions for it.

The site had also said the couple’s home came with a 10-bed houseboat.

Mrs MacDonald said: “I wish it was worth over £14m.”

Zoopla said a technical hitch was behind the mistake.

Mind you, valuations are never easy. Omni Capital, the financing arm of Christian Candy who with his brother Nick developed One Hyde Park, has reportedly made a £55m loan to the owners of a property in Rutland Gate, London, where the asking price was £300m.

Omni Capital is said to have had the property valued at £140m.
