Online agent Upad’s assets bought by property management business

Online property management business Howsy has acquired a number of Upad’s assets.

The online letting agent was put into creditors’ voluntary liquidation in October after the illness of founder James Davis.

Upad is the second online lettings agency acquisition for Howsy which last September bought Urban, once part of the Emoov group.

Howsy, which has bought Upad’s name, contracts and operating platform, will be keeping the brand.

Howsy founder Calum Brannan said: “The Upad brand has a strong and positive reputation.

“Over the last decade it built a great name, based on a strong focus on customer service and advice. We won’t be throwing that away – in fact we want to build on it.”

He added: “Upad’s technology delivers some fantastic solutions and their loyal customer base represents a cross-section of UK landlords who we hope we can also continue to deliver a great service to.”

Brannan said that Howsy could be making further purchases.

He said: “We have significant financial backing and the ambition is to grow our business fast, both organically and through strategic acquisitions.”
