New asking prices will crash £300,000 barrier by end of year

Average new asking prices by the end of this year will be £307,000, Rightmove has predicted.

If correct, the average new asking price will be up £17,000 in a year.

The site is predicting the average new asking price by the end of 2016 will be £635,000 across London, up 3% annually.

Rightmove is also forecasting bumper traffic to its site in the spring, and that rental demand will continue to grow as house prices rise.

Rightmove is posting its predictions to agents next week, but yesterday made them available digitally.

It took the opportunity to remind agents that it is sending over 4m sales and rental leads to members each month.
