Mystery as founder of Zoopla-backed mortgage broker departs

Mystery surrounds the abrupt departure of the founding chief executive of an online mortgage broker backed by Zoopla.

Ishaan Malhi has resigned from Trussle with immediate effect after five years.

No reason has been given for his departure but company chairman Simon Williams paid tribute to him, saying he had played an “instrumental role in our mission of making mortgages fairer”.

Trussle was founded by Malhi and Jonathan Galore in 2015 and backed by Zoopla in early 2016.

Trussle claimed to be the UK’s first online-only mortgage broker and was one of four proptech firms to be backed by Zoopla at the same time, for a total of £1m. The other three were Fixflo, Landbay and PropertyDetective.

The investments came during a period of great expansion for the company, which acquired uSwitch and the Property Software Group.

In September 2016, Zoopla announced a new partnership with Trussle, giving home hunters a mortgage in principle in under five minutes, and setting out repayments with no impact on credit scores.

Other high-profile Trussle backers include Ed Wray, founder of Betfair.

    Trussle? Galore? Zoopla?

…..did I miss an Alien Race landing over the Festive period, which then introduced a new language?
