London leads the way for estate agency job opportunities

Property recruitment specialist, Rayner Personnel, has taken a look at which cities currently offers the best chance of getting back into estate agency for professionals made redundant during the current pandemic.

Rayner looked at the average number of ‘estate agent’ jobs currently listed across the major recruitment portals within a 15-mile radius of 23 major cities.

The figures show there are some 2,112 estate agency roles currently looking to be filled across these cities, roughly half the level of job opportunities when compared to pre-lockdown levels.

As you may expect, the capital accounts for the vast majority of available estate agent jobs, with 55% of jobs across these 23 major cities listed in London.

To put London’s dominance for property job potential into perspective, Birmingham is home to the second-largest number of jobs but accounts for just 4% of current positions open to applicants.

Manchester and Leicester also rank high, but again these cities are home to just 3% of all estate agent jobs listed across these 23 major cities.

The hardest spots to be searching for an estate agency role at present are Aberdeen, Plymouth and Belfast, with these cities accounting for just 0.1% of current jobs available each.

Josh Rayner, CEO of Rayner Personnel, commented:

“We’ve seen a few high profile casualties in the property industry as a result of the current pandemic and this list will no doubt increase as the months go on.

“The agents most reliant on their bricks and mortar presence seem to be the ones suffering the most, and as a result, there are now many experienced industry professionals who will be looking for work.

“Unfortunately, the number of available jobs is far from abundant and for those living outside of London, securing new employment seems a very tough task indeed.

“However, the property industry is one built on resilience and an ability to adapt and evolve.

“Once the dust has settled, we should see many more job roles materialise, and there are still jobs to be found in the current climate.

“If you’re looking to get back to estate agency, keep calm, stay motivated, and you have an excellent chance of succeeding.”
