Carter Jonas has launched a filming locations service aimed at the film, television, photography and events sectors.
The new division, led by head of filming Dan Douglas, will help production companies source and secure locations across the UK while also working with property owners looking to generate income from filming activity.
The service draws on Carter Jonas’ existing property portfolio, which includes residential homes, rural estates, industrial sites, development land and specialist locations such as quarries, hospitals and industrial outdoor storage facilities.
The consultancy said the launch comes amid continued demand from the UK film and television industry for a wide range of filming locations.
As well as introducing locations to production companies, Carter Jonas will manage the process on behalf of property owners, including viewings, licensing arrangements, on-site coordination and reinstatement once filming has concluded.
The service is intended to provide an additional revenue opportunity for owners of vacant or underused properties, while giving production companies access to a broader range of potential filming locations.
Douglas, who heads the new division, has previously worked in film and television location services and has been involved in sourcing sites for a range of productions
Alexandra Houghton, head of commercial at Carter Jonas, said: “The launch of Filming Location Services is an exciting addition to Carter Jonas’ offer. It builds on our strengths in this sector and brings together production expertise with the insight, capability, and national reach of the firm. This puts us in a strong position to support productions while also helping owners derive greater value from their assets. I have no doubt that the service will succeed and grow under Dan’s leadership.”
Richard Bruce, chief executive of Carter Jonas, added: “This is a fantastic launch for Carter Jonas and one that plays to our strengths. We have a diverse property portfolio, vast experience in realising value from assets, and the agility to keep pace with the world of production. It’s so exciting to see our properties providing stunning backdrops for film and television, helping productions bring stories to life on screen. It’s a launch that really reflects the breadth of our offer as a national firm.”
