Historic firm completes counterpart acquisition

Midlands-based Sheldon Bosley Knight (SBK) has kicked off the new year by acquiring another business.

Coventry sales and letting agency Robin Jones has joined the fold adding more than 170 let only and managed properties to SBK’s rental portfolio, alongside a well-established residential sales operation. SBK will retain the six-strong Robin Jones team, to be managed by Simon Gallacher.

The deal establishes a base in Coventry for SBK and brings the total number of offices to 16 across four counties.

SBK director and co-owner, Mike Cleary said: “Robin Jones is a well-established, successful, family-run business and we are delighted they chose us to take over the reins.

“We share the same values and ethos so it’s an excellent fit for SBK and under Simon’s stewardship, I am confident we will continue to provide an excellent level of service for vendors, buyers, tenants and landlords in the city.

“These acquisitions mark the start of a busy few months for us, in this our 180th year. Our plan is to grow the business further and this includes another exciting acquisition in Coventry to be announced in the next few weeks.”

Max Jones, Robin Jones’ managing director, added: “I established Robin Jones over 47 years ago and we have been widely recognised as one of Coventry’s leading estate agents.

“In the last 12 months we have experienced a period of growth gaining a larger market share across the region.

“When I met Mike Cleary and we discussed the plans he has for Sheldon Bosley Knight, I was very impressed and decided there was only one company I would be handing the reigns over to.

“I am looking forward to finally spending some well-deserved time with my family and watching Sheldon Bosley Knight continue to break down barriers and disrupt our ever-changing industry.”

SBK, which celebrates its 180th birthday this year, now has 16 offices and more than 100 in-house staff across Coventry and Warwickshire, Gloucestershire, Leicestershire, Worcestershire and the Cotswolds.
