Landlord Fergus Wilson is in trouble with the police again – this time over allegedly assaulting a piece of fish.
Last week, Wilson was on the way to visit some properties in the north and stopped for a quick lunch at South Mimms’ Welcome Break.
The fast service from Harry Ramsden was not as fast as Wilson thought it should be, and he threw battered cod and chips on the floor.
The manager sent for help and a police community support officer arrived to tell Wilson – who has had a previous conviction for assaulting an agent – he was going to arrest him.
Wilson told him that a PCSO does not have the power of arrest, and the PCSO called for reinforcements. Six other police officers turned up.
Wilson said that this was rather disproportionate – seven police officers for cod and chips thrown over the floor. There was then a discussion, apparently, between Wilson and the police as to whether he had assaulted anyone, or whether anyone thought they might be assaulted.
Wilson said: “What, with a piece of battered cod?”
The manager also apparently asked Wilson whether he thought that was an appropriate way to carry on. Wilson replied that in his view there was no better way of commenting on poor service.
An unabashed Wilson told EYE: “The rest of the day was uneventful – the properties were fine.”
Delightful chap.
He would be excellent in one of those reality shows such as big brother or the jungle.
You know the loon will crack at some point and start ranting.
Just what the producers look for 😉
