Well-known industry figure, Eric Walker, has landed a top job at The Property Franchise Group. He becomes the Managing Director of Martin & Co for the South of England and Scotland.
Walker has had several high profile roles in his career, which began with a ten year stint at Alex Neil & Co in London’s Docklands area.
He was Group Managing Director at Bushells for four years from 2008 to 2012 and then spent a few months as South-East Regional Managing Director at You Move.
From 2013 he held the position of Managing Director at Northwood, responsible for an 80+ branch operation, but when Belvoir acquired the company in 2016 Walker stayed on as Group Managing Director for only seven months before departing and setting up his own consultancy.
His new appointment with Martin & Co means that one of the best known figures in the letting industry is back in a high profile position.
We asked Walker how he would handle the distance between the two geographic areas of responsibility. He told us: “Firstly it’s so easy for me to get to Scotland from London whereas it’s a real challenge if you live in the midlands/ north. Secondly, I am well versed in Scotland’s lettings laws.”

Well done TPFG for landing a big fish- delighted to see Eric back where he belongs- boots on the ground making stuff happen.
That’s a big patch to cover and a completely different dynamic in characters/franchisees. Scotland has always been a challenge for both Belvoir and TPFG. Has either employed anyone before with actual working knowledge of Scotland, not just knowledge of the law which anyone can learn if they wish? I could also say the same about Wales and Northern Ireland. Anyway for the group as a whole Eric is a great ”catch” and will assist Gareth Samples greatly to put his touch on TPFG. I will hold judgement on his impact on Scotland and the rest of the UK in general.
