Estate agents told not to rely on Rightmove to sell property amid tougher trading conditions

Matt Giggs

Giggs, who is also an estate agency mentor, is urging more agents to rely on their database to find people who are active in the market, rather than focus on “factors”, such as property portals, that he says “are out of their control”.

He insists that estate agents will not succeed this year “by relying on Rightmove” amid tougher trading conditions.

“That [property portal leads] is not selling a property anymore, and probably won’t be for quite a number of years”

So, what is the key to selling property in the current market?

Well worth listening to this – applicant management, HOT (motivated) buyers list, regular communication (picking up the phone) and matching buyers to homes, rather than just posting on Rightmove etc. This is a good series of discussions and always a nugget or too (and reminders) to pick up.

      Couldn’t agree more John.

People coming into the industry think you click a button and wait for the magic to happen. I appreciate the importance of a personal service as we head towards a normal market!
