Laurie Kavanagh, of South Street, was found guilty at Southwark Crown Court of using abusive, insulting, and threatening words and behaviour towards two police officers, as well as religious abuse towards a third.

The offences took place in Hammersmith, London, on 28 November 28 2021.

Following the court hearing, Kavanagh’s now previous employers Myddelton and Major said that the estate agency not known about the incidents.

Kavanagh, who joined the independent estate agents in 2020, was head of residential sales at its Salisbury office.

The company says that as soon as they found out about what happened, Kavanagh’s employment contract was terminated.

Philip Holford, managing partner at Myddelton and Major, told the press: “Everyone here is appalled and deeply shocked by the former employee’s repugnant actions; his employment contract was terminated as soon as we were made aware of the court facts and sentence.

“He has brought disgrace and shame not only to our good company name but to the wider Salisbury community. We did not know he was facing criminal proceedings – we had not been notified by him.”

Kavanagh, 37, was ordered to complete 300 hours of unpaid work within 12 months, and must have alcohol abstinence monitoring for 60 days.

He was ordered to pay £150 compensation for each assaulted officer – totalling £450 – and prosecution costs of £535.

Holford added: “We can only hope that our customers understand that the ex-employee’s vile actions were in an individual capacity and are in no way a reflection of the values and standards that we hold dear and have been known for since starting out in Salisbury more than 100 years ago.”

I’m not condoning his actions, but being an Estate Agent has ZERO to do with what he did and we don’t need to know!

Too often criticism like this is forthcoming towards articles posted for our general interest.

It really should be borne in mind that PIE is a free news sheet and no one is obliged to read it.

To steadfastly post around 7 articles a day, 5 days a week takes some doing and to make every single one interesting to all is nigh on impossible.

Why not post a few yourself and see how they go down with the readership?

I am inclined to agree with the first comment but if you look at the number of views this one has had compared to the interest in OTM’s AGM, clearly everyone does need to know!! 😀

Actually, Jan, he called a Sikh police officer a ‘Muslim c*** with a turban’ following a football match. He also shouted: ‘I’ll bring a pack of pikies round your house and rape you.’ at a woman constable and kicked out at officers and shouted at a police sergeant he would ‘send his boys round his house’ to kill the officer and his family.

He sounds like a real peach! I would most definitely not employ him, so from my point of view it is good to have his name. Racism and mysogeny are both abhorrent and he should be be called out for what he is.
