Estate agent founder dies after short illness

Philip Pugh

Philip Pugh, the owner and founder of Philip Pugh and Partners in Cheltenham, has died at the age of 75.

Born and bred in Cheltenham, the estate agent sadly passed away on 9 June, following a short illness.

Pugh leaves behind Vanessa and their three daughters, Emma, Steph, and Georgina, and six grandchildren.

Tributes have been paid to the popular businessman who was “loved by everyone who met him”.

His eldest daughter, Emma Lock, said that their family was “incredibly close-knit”, who all lived in Charlton Kings, and “often saw each other as a whole family at least once to two times a month”.

Emma told Gloucestershire Live: “He was very much a family man. His whole personality says it all really, everyone who met Phil loved him.

“He had a great sense of humour and was very young at heart. He was warm and absolutely loved our family get-togethers with the grandchildren.”

She added that being an estate agent in the town was “his absolute passion” and that he was even still working until recently.

“It was his first job,” she said. “He worked for Robert Wilson, a local estate agent before starting up ‘Property Kings’.

“He then moved to C&G Estate Agents before starting up Philip Pugh and Partners in 1994.”

Philip Pugh and Partners is a well-known independent residential estate and letting agency, founded by Pugh, who had worked in the field locally for more than 40 years.

Outside of his work, he was a keen musician, and focussed on playing the drums with his band ‘Over The Hill’.

Pugh’s family are looking to support the Great Western Ambulance Service, who helped with their dad’s care when he fell ill, to show their gratitude for his care – click here to donate.

Sincere condolences to friends and family of Mr Pugh.  A sad loss for all, and for the industry.
