Parkers has opened a new Basingstoke office following the acquisition of two independent estate agencies in the town.

The agency acquired Property Explorer and Barons earlier this year. It has now brought both businesses into its Basingstoke operation.

The move expands Parkers’ presence across Hampshire. Its wider network includes offices in Tadley, Newbury and Reading, as well as surrounding villages.

Franchise owners Simon Gregory, Simon West and Ben Mitchell will lead the Basingstoke business.

The two acquisitions gave Parkers an existing property management portfolio and an established presence in the town.

Gregory said: “The acquisitions certainly gave us a running start in the town, with a very well-managed property portfolio that fits into the way we manage ours. Barons were one of the most successful agents in Basingstoke and were independently owned.

“While we are part of The Property Franchise Group, we still run our business independently, which is important to us.”

Parkers already covered areas close to Basingstoke through its Tadley office. The size of the local rental market also influenced its decision to expand.

Gregory added: “We had wanted to open in Basingstoke for a while. We operate closely in the area from our Tadley office and it is a huge area for rentals, so when we were offered Property Explorer, it just made perfect sense.”

Parkers retains existing staff

Parkers has kept staff from the acquired businesses as part of the integration.

The company has also added an experienced local manager to the team.

The Basingstoke operation will offer residential sales, lettings, block management and financial services.

Meanwhile, the franchise owners plan to grow the agency’s market share over the next 12 months.

Parkers also plans further expansion into other major towns.
