Steer Property Group has completed the acquisition of Duncan Yeardley and Sears estate agents, expanding its operations to nine branches across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.

The deal sees the independent group acquire both businesses from Nick Thring. The purchase follows Steer’s acquisition of Tim Russ & Co in June 2024.

The latest transaction takes the group to three estate agency brands, nine branches and around 100 employees.

Duncan Yeardley and Sears will retain their existing trading names, staff and four offices. The group says there will be no immediate changes for clients.

Vince Courtney, managing director of Steer Property Group, has known Thring since 2012. He has also spent 30 years living and working in the local property market.

Courtney said: “After Ben and I acquired Tim Russ in June 2024, we were keen to bring another good business into the group, and this felt like a natural fit, built on trust and shared values.

“This is my 40th year in estate agency, and I’m as excited about this as anything I’ve done. Ben and I are committed to keeping Duncan Yeardley and Sears exactly as they are, with the same people looking after clients in the same way.”

Thring, managing director of Duncan Yeardley and Sears, said the decision to sell followed several years of expansion.

He commented: “Deciding to sell was a big decision. I have loved running Duncan Yeardley and Sears, and I’m very proud of what the team and I have achieved as we’ve grown over the last few years.

“It feels like the right time, but my priority was always finding the right buyer. I truly believe Vince and Ben are the right people to take the business forward.”

Ben Steer, operations director of Steer Property Group, said the acquisition was part of its plans to expand across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.

He added: “Following our acquisition of Tim Russ & Co in 2024, this is a big step in our ambition to grow the Steer Property Group as a truly independent business across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.”
