Nathan Walker

A fundraiser by a Cardiff estate agent has secured £1,000 in corporate donations for Welsh children’s hospice Tŷ Hafan ahead of the Cardiff Half Marathon.

Nathan Walker, sales director at CPS Homes, is taking on the 13.1-mile race in memory of his late nephews and is raising money for the charity, which supports children with life-shortening conditions and their families across Wales.

After CPS Homes shared details of Walker’s fundraising and training on social media, the campaign was spotted by the agency’s newly appointed account manager at Rightmove.

The property portal subsequently arranged a £500 donation to Tŷ Hafan, which CPS Homes has matched with a further £500.

Barrie James, director at CPS Homes, said: “We initially shared Nathan’s fundraising journey to help him build momentum, and as a company, we were already set to back his efforts with a £500 donation from CPS Homes.

“However, seeing Rightmove get involved completely unsolicited off the back of an online post was a fantastic surprise – it really shows the power of social media in driving community support.”

He added: “Tŷ Hafan provides priceless support to children with life-shortening conditions and their families across Wales, so combining our company match with Rightmove’s contribution to turn a simple online update into £1,000 of direct funding is incredibly rewarding.”

Walker and CPS Homes are continuing to raise money for the charity ahead of the race.
