It’s a cracker! Agency chain to launch new listings on Christmas Day

Andrews, the chain with branches across the south of England, is to run its Christmas Cracker campaign for a second year.

The campaign sends out listings of properties totally new to the market on Christmas Day afternoon.

Last year it resulted in a doubling of visits to the Andrews website over the festive period.

The initiative encourages prospective sellers to get their property ready for marketing to a pre-registered database on Christmas Day.

Andrews launched the campaign last year after seeing activity on its website rise noticeably after 3pm on December 25.

Michael Robson, chief executive of Andrews, said: “It initially sounds ludicrous when we tell sellers that they should consider marketing their property on Christmas Day, but last year’s results speak for themselves.

“Each property featured in the exclusive Christmas day launch had an average of three times more viewings in the following week than other properties.

“We fully expect to see similarly positive results from this year’s scheme, not least because of the popularity of tablets and smart phones as Christmas gifts.””

An old colleague, Tim Maynard, and I believed we were the first ever agents to agree a sale on Christmas Day in 1990 when we were working for Jose Collins in Redruth, Cornwall. I seem to remember we had some tabloid News coverage at the time.

"Each property featured in the exclusive Christmas day launch had an average of three times more viewings in the following week than other properties" and? so how about finishing the story, what happened next? Did those viewings result in 3 times as many offers and did each property sell 3 times over for 3 times as much?

Please don't post gufferage at us, part KPIs become KPs and as everyone knows that is just nuts as the don't indicate a blessed thing!

For Christians and many others, Christmas Day and Easter Day are the 2 days in the calendar which should be a day of rest for real chilling out and reflection. So Andrews, who form a large part of a major charitable trust whose aims are "the advancement of the Christian religion" and "the expression of Christian love" decide to open their offices on Christmas Day and in the interests of Mammon. Ho! Ho! Ho!

Mr Copus – you may have different sources of information but nowhere in the article nor on their website do I read that they are actually OPENING their offices for business, as you suggest.

Perhaps some clarification from Andrews would be appropriate under the circumstances.
