My Property Box strengthens team with triple appointment

L-R: Marie Wilmot, Georgia Richardson, Nicola Nicholson, and Georgia Greenstreet

North East estate agency group My Property Box has welcomed Nicola Nicholson, Georgia Greenstreet and Georgia Richardson to its team following a raft of recent acquisitions.

Nicholson joins as sales manager and valuer and is responsible for overseeing the sales team, while both Greenstreet and Richardson will act as sales negotiators and valuers and will liaise with current and new clients, overseeing sales progression and offers.

Between them the trio possess more than 30 years’ experience in the sales and lettings sector.

My Property Box, which covers the Tees Valley, County Durham, Tyneside, Wearside, Northumberland and North Yorkshire, recently launched its own accredited financial services arm.

In February, it completed its 10th acquisition in six years after buying Teesside lettings and property investment specialist Brookland Estates Lettings for an undisclosed sum.

Marie Willmot, sales and lettings director at My Property Box, said: “All three bring invaluable expertise and energy to the team as we experience a renewed interest in sales.

“Their recruitment reflects our commitment to delivering an unparalleled service to clients. We’re excited to welcome them aboard and leverage their talents to drive our continued growth and success as the business strengthens its position as a prominent player in the property market of the North East and beyond.”

New CEO replaces Jerry Lyons at Content Club

Amanda Bower

The Estate Agent Content Club (EACC) has announced its new CEO, replacing founder Jerry Lyons.

Amanda Bower has taken over as CEO, AKA community enjoyment officer, with a mission to grow the EACC’s membership, support members, and oversee most day-to-day operations.

Lyons said: “Amanda has been working with me for over three years and has repeatedly proven capable, talented, and hardworking. She started as a part-time virtual assistant scheduling our social media but has become a key part of our team. I’m confident she’s the perfect person to lead the club into its next phase.”

He will remain involved with the club, albeit in a different capacity.

Lyons added: “The retirement to a sun-kissed island is a way off for now. I’m not going anywhere. My focus will shift to product development, thinking up new guides and prospecting letter packs, and expanding the Ethical Agent Network. I’m here to support Amanda and our members as needed.

Bower commented: “As CEO, I want to focus on making our community even more engaging and enjoyable. It’s about making sure our members are happy and that we continue to grow, both in terms of membership and the services we offer.”

SmartSearch appoints new CEO

Phil Cotter

SmartSearch has announced the appointment of Phil Cotter to the position of chief executive officer.

This follows the completion of a majority investment by Triple Private Equity, as the digital compliance and anti-money laundering (AML) specialist looks to continue its existing growth plans.

Triple announced its intention to invest in March 2024. The transaction marks the first investment made by Triple’s inaugural Fund I, which is focused on investing in B2B mission-critical vertical software and data businesses headquartered in the UK and the Nordic Region.

Cotter brings a wealth of compliance, risk, and leadership expertise to the role, having held senior positions at the London Stock Exchange Group, Refinitiv, Thomson Reuters, and Experian.

Following the decision of outgoing CEO, Guy Harrison, to move on to take on a new opportunity closer to home, Triple Private Equity took the opportunity to help SmartSearch accelerate the talent search by making the introduction.

Cotter has been working as an external advisor to Triple and has worked with Triple’s Founding Partner, Ben Shepherd, for several years prior. This association, combined with his years of leadership experience in the industry, made him the perfect candidate for the position.

Cotter said: “SmartSearch is at the cutting edge in the digital compliance market, and it’s an incredibly exciting time to join this growing business. Organisations in regulated industries need to ensure they remain compliant in the markets within which they operate, while also keeping their customers safe from fraud and money laundering. These two challenges are intrinsically linked, and SmartSearch is perfectly positioned to help businesses rise to the task. I look forward to leading the organisation during this next period of growth.”

Martin Cheek, co-founder and managing director of SmartSearch, commented: “SmartSearch was born to help protect people and businesses from money laundering and fraud. This remains at the heart of our business. Now, with this significant investment from Triple and the vast industry expertise Phil Cotter brings to the role, I look forward to making it even easier for our customers to stay compliant, while going even further to protect them from money laundering and fraud.”
